A Brand New Factor Tree!

Last night we released a major update to Factor Tree that enhances just about every part of the product.  The new Factor Tree experience delivers the relevant information you want about what your child is learning, when your child practices, and their progress in the program. For students, we made it easier to get started, more flexible to practice what you want, and simpler to review your work and progress.

Since we launched in November, we’ve received a lot of feedback from our users – some positive and some constructive.  We took a good hard look at our application and incorporated a number of great ideas that were suggested to us through Facebook, Twitter, and our inbox.  We have a lot of passionate people using Factor Tree – both parents and students – and without your help over the past few months, we wouldn’t be close to where we are today.

Enhancements

Completely New Dashboard

We started from scratch to make the Factor Tree interface simpler, direct, and valuable to parents.  Your dashboard contains all student activity, from the completion of the first worksheet to the student’s mastery of the last topic in our curriculum.  You can easily review their work and results on a daily basis.  From your dashboard sidebar, any of your students can start a worksheet with just two clicks of the mouse.

Re-developed Student Summary

Student progress is as important to us as it is to you.  We wanted to make sure you know exactly what your student is working on and when they’re practicing on Factor Tree.  You can find this information on your student’s progress page.  In addition to recent activity from that student, you’ll see a calendar that helps your student stick to a regular, customized practice schedule.  You’ll also find a summary of all of the work they’ve done on Factor Tree and links to review their recent worksheets.

Easily Review Student Practice

Reviewing worksheets with your student is a great way to help them learn from their mistakes.  When you click on a worksheet that your student has done, you can view all the questions that they worked on and the answer they entered for each one.  You can also filter the questions based on whether your student got them correct/incorrect and by topic.  Zero in on topics that your student may need extra support on.

Choose Your Own Topics!

Students, want to get extra practice for an upcoming math test in school?  Want to be challenged with some advanced problems?  Need to brush up on a topic that you learned last month or last year?  Whatever the reason, Factor Tree now allows you to choose your own topics to practice!  These practice worksheets do not change your progression in the Factor Tree curriculum but are a great way for you to customize Factor Tree to fit your needs.

Tutorial and Hints

Stuck on a problem and not sure how to solve it?  Or perhaps you’re just unfamiliar with the words used in the question.  Now you can click on the Hint button to see definitions, a brief tutorial on solution methods, and two worked example problems.

As always, you can contact us at any time by email at support@thefactortree.com with any thoughts, questions, or issues that may come up. We hope you enjoy the enhancements and look forward to hearing your feedback!
